INVESTIGATIVE SERVICES
The Investigations Unit of the Temple University Police has a staff of ten detectives, led by a senior officer and a chief investigator. Their role is three-fold: to investigate crimes, develop crime prevention strategies and tactics, and assist crime victims.
The emphasis is on prevention. And technology plays a major role in efforts to reduce crime. The tools used by the Investigations Unit include crime mapping analysis to head-off negative trends; facial composite software to help identify offenders; over 150 exterior camera views accessible by computer; and a link to the Phliadelphia Police Computer Aided Dispatch system.
